SESSION 6 - TREASURE HUNT.

Our treasure hunt is designed to help you learn about the meaning of Maori tattoos. There's also an activity with a song.
Are you ready?


INSTRUCTIONS :

  • We will work with page 2 only. Please focus on the correct page for each session, or you won't have enough time to collect the required information. This treasure hunt will always be available from this blog. If you feel you didn't have enough time to browse around, you can always go back to it later.
  • Take a white piece of paper to fill in your answers. Write your name and date at the top. Even if you work in pairs, each student must complete his/her own page with answers.

  • Song activity :

1. If you complete the treasure hunt from home, go straight into question nÂș 4.

2. If you do the activity during class, please follow teacher's instructions. We will do it together with the SONG STRIPS provided.

SESSION 5 - Comparisons (II)


Other than the comparative form, we can also use these comparison clauses to show


as + adj+ as => that two things are equal.
too + adj =>that something is excessive.
not + adj + enough => that something is sufficient (or insufficient).

We can also compare using: Like + noun or gerund.

Have a look at these examples:

–She is too slow to be a good skater.
–She isn’t fast enough to be a good skater.
–His hair is too short to be a hippy.
–Goths have a face as pale as chalk.
–These trousers aren’t baggy enough for you to skate.
–There was a terrible blizzard; it was like the end of the world (LIKE + NOUN)
–Getting money from him is like getting blood from a stone (LIKE + GERUND)

Remember:
COMPARATIVE FORM

adj + ER + than
( one/two syllable ADJ)

She’s taller than me

more + adj + than
(3 or more syllables ADJ)

This is more difficult than I thought

less + adj + than
(3 or more syllables ADJ)

Goths are less dangerous than Punks

•Some adjectives have irregular forms:
Good => better/Bad => worse/Far => farther/further

•Double consonant:
hot > hoTTer ; thin > thiNNer ; cruel > crueLLer.

•Y becomes I:
prettY > prettIer, scarY > scarIer.
